DESCRIPTION

As new music took off in the UK in the late 1980s, acid house and techno were shaping a youth subculture comparable in scale to the hippie movement of the 1960s. The Second Summer of Love is a series composed of four pictures filmed to celebrate thirty years since the techno acid house revolution. The films study various aspects of youth subcultures which emerged together with the rise of electronic music on both sides of the Atlantic. Beat Film Festival and Garage Screen will present these works on August 30 and 31.

The Second Summer of Love: Shorts

Artists as much as film directors, the authors featured in the Second Summer of Love series of screenings, including Wu Tsang, Josh Blaaberg and Jenn Nkiru, share a multidisciplinary approach, presenting powerful and paradoxical statements about the 1988 music revolution.
