From National to International: Contemporary Art From the UK on the World Stage. A lecture by Emma Dexter

19 September 2017
19:30–20:30

DESCRIPTION

Garage Museum of Contemporary Art and the British Council present a public lecture by Emma Dexter, the British Council’s Director of Visual Arts and Commissioner of the British Pavilion at the Venice Biennale 2017.

Emma Dexter will share her curatorial experience and discuss the international promotion of UK contemporary art. She will share her professional experience as a curator and her experience in building relationships with different artists.

During the lecture, the audience will learn about the work of the British Council Visual Arts team and its promotion of established and emerging British talents abroad. Using the British Pavilion and the ‘Museum without Walls’ — the British Council’s art collection, as examples, Emma will talk about how to form an image of a country through international special projects and touring exhibitions.
