Five driven students from the world’s best business school in pursuit of success
Francisca, Tobias, Sara, David, and Frederic are students at Switzerland’s University of St. Gallen on a master’s program that The Financial Times describes as the world’s best management program. Each from a different background, they share a common goal—to become successful entrepreneurs, consultants or CEOs.
Director Pete Baumgartner closely follows the five aspiring leaders for seven years, from their admission interviews to their first career steps, from their academic successes to their victories and defeats in the world of big money. Fierce competition, complex ethical issues, endless compromises, The Driven Ones is a reflection on the subject «Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?» Who do you have to be to dream of being on top of the world? The director asks the protagonists about their ambitions and plans, travels with them to business dinners and vacations, talks to their parents, and watches them prepare for job interviews. The result is five masterfully edited stories about five people—each with their own doubts, aspirations, fears, and disappointments—who take flight in pursuit of success and to finally find an answer to the question of whether it was worth it.
