DESCRIPTION

A group of friends in Paris are trying to make sense of the contemporary world where book printing is in decline, mass culture dominates over any other culture, and people get lost on social networks. Olivier Assayas’s clever comedy about life and love as a total game stars Juliette Binoche.

Alain is a Parisian publisher who is trying to keep up with the changing times. His wife Selene is an actress working in TV dramas. Léonard is an author, whose latest manuscript Alain rejects. Léonard’s wife Valérie works in politics. All of them are trying to understand contemporary life, be it through clever conversations or love affairs.

Olivier Assayas (Clouds of Sils Maria, 2014; Personal Shopper; 2016) has produced a comedy about the zeitgeist and life as a total game. In Non-Fiction, philosophical dialogues do not impede the rapid development of the story, discussions of current issues are mixed with a complex love story, and most important things are said ironically. The film premiered at the 75th Venice Film Festival.
