A clever Italian romcom about a woman and a man who are tired of waking up alone.
Piero (Edoardo Leo) is nervous: tonight, he’s going on a date with Lara (Pilar Fogliati) and she’s invited him over to her place. He has flowers and a present and is waiting by her door. But he’s going to be met by more than just one Lara, as several people and voices coexist in her head. The same is true of Piero, a host of several sub-identities (and not all among them like each other). What might the result be of intellectual conversations, flirting, and desire for real love in an encounter between not just two people but two entire teams?
In his new film Perfect Strangers director Paolo Genovese cleverly balances two tasks: to entertain the viewer and to discuss the important question of what love is and how to find it. In Italy, Madly has unsurprisingly become a national hit: stories about mitigating the voices in one’s head and allowing oneself to be happy never go out of fashion.
The film will be screened in Italian with Russian subtitles.
