DESCRIPTION

A grand portrait of the master of horror with commentary from his fans Gaspar Noé, Nicolas Winding Refn, and Guillermo del Toro.

With its deep colors, creative angles, and erotic tension, the cinema of the king of horror Dario Argento continues to inspire neon fantasies by filmmakers such as Gaspar Noé and Nicolas Winding Refn, and a recent remake of his Suspiria by Luca Guadagnino was a festival hit.

Dario Argento: Panico is a documentary biopic. Argento, now in his eighties, moves into a quiet countryside hotel to write a new script and look back at his film career. The film features contributions from his collaborators, favorite actors, and family, including his daughter, actress Asia Argento, who one critic has described as Argento’s best creation. With archival footage from film sets and old interviews, the film offers plenty of opportunities to watch the young, pale Argento, who resembles a mad vampire, talk about how to make the viewer panic. The final monologue of the now elderly filmmaker about his dark side, and his eerie long smile, reveal the same madness that he has carried with him throughout his career.

The film will be screened in Italian, Spanish, English, and French with Russian subtitles.
