Film screening. Ash Is Purest White

Garage Screen: Premieres
11 August 2018
21:00–23:30

DESCRIPTION

Chronicle of the relationship between a gangster and his girlfriend, which covers twenty years and traces the changing world during this period. One of the main competition films of the 71st Cannes Film Festival.

Qiao starts work at a dance club and gradually gets used to the locals who are mostly gangsters. One of them melts her heart and a head-spinning affair begins. This new work by Jia Zhangke combines a gangster film and a road-movie, drama and tragedy, musical revue and comedy, and at the same time creates a timeless epic about the nature of change—social and political, individual and personal.
