Curator-Led Tour for GARAGE Premium Cardholders, Art Lovers’ Circle and Garage Club Members

4 October 2017
20:00–21:00

DESCRIPTION

Garage Museum of Contemporary Art is pleased to invite GARAGE Premium cardholders, Art Lovers’ Circle and Garage Club members to a curator-led tour of Takashi Murakami's exhibition Under the Radiation Falls, the first major survey of the Japanese artist's work in Russia.

This Wednesday, the tour is run by Katya Inozemtseva, Garage’s Senior Curator. Visitors will enjoy a big and fascinating adventure through the artist’s universe. Murakami examines Eastern and Western artistic traditions, trying to bring them together. In his work, the artist combines images borrowed from pop culture with traditional motifs and narratives from classical Japanese painting and sculpture. The exhibition at Garage includes more than eighty paintings, drawings (including prints), and films by Murakami. The exhibition also comprises traditional Japanese engravings and paintings from the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts, Moscow, various artifacts from Murakami's studio, and photographs and examples of manga from Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum.
