DESCRIPTION

Bruce J. Altshuller’s book The Avant-Garde in Exhibition: New Art in the 20th Century will be released within Garage Museum’s joinmt publishing program with Ad Marginem.

In his lecture New York University professor Bruce J. Altshuller will speak about the transition of art after 1960, the emergence of large international exhibition venues outside of the influential Western art world, as well as the increasing power of art institutions, the boom of thematic shows, and independent curatorship. 

ABOUT THE LECTURER

Bruce J. Altshuler is the Director of the museum studies program at the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences at New York University, author of multiple books.

The lecture will be delivered in English with simultaneous translation to Russian.
The lecture will be accessible for deaf and hard of hearing visitors and will be interpreted into Russian Sign Language.
