During the nineteenth-century industrial revolution, Krasnaya Presnya was on the outskirts of Moscow and was therefore home to numerous factories and production facilities.
The oldest factories, which laid the foundations of Moscow industry, were located there. Factory buildings featured historicist architecture, which combined historical motifs with the use of brick and innovative engineering.
Participants will see the complex of Moscow Aleksandrov Railway Workshops, the bronze and furniture factory Muir and Mirrielees, and the Tryokhgornaya Manufaktura. As well as industrial brick buildings, the tour will cover the 1930s constructivist building of Bread Factory No. 5, where Zotov Center is located. We will see how old factory buildings are being repurposed and transformed into contemporary public spaces.
The tour was devised in collaboration the development company FORMA, a Garage partner.
