Garage Screen and Beat Film Festival, the international festival of documentaries about music and new culture, present the film program Beat Weekend — 2023 at Garage.
Beat Weekend is annual echo of the Beat Film Festival, which this year will take in 21 cities. The program includes this year’s audience favorites and the best films from previous years.
Garage Auditorium is the venue for screenings of important films that were audience favorites—Making Waves: The Art of Cinematic Sound, about the evolution of sound and music in cinema from the first talkies to complex works of sound design; Studio 54, about the legendary New York night club of the 1970s—and premieres from this year: 32 Sounds, a film exploring the nature of sound that was first shown at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival, and two films about artists: Nam June Paik: Moon is the Oldest TV, about the video art pioneer, and Lynch/Oz, which reveals the sources of David Lynch’s inspiration.
