DESCRIPTION

Inclusive Programs Department invites visitors to join free adapted architectural tours of the Narkomfin House.

A vanguard architectural structure of the 1930s, the Narkomfin House has a long history. Today it is one of the main monuments of the Soviet avant-garde and constructivism. Tour participants will examine the facades of the building from the outside before exploring its interior. They will also see vintage photographs and the original plans of the complex. The guide will explain the rules of the “new life” that was to be led by Narkomfin House residents and describe the unusual structure of the cell apartments, which participants will have a chance to visit. The walk will end on the roof of the building.

HOW TO TAKE PART

These tours are designed for people aged over 18 with learning and developmental disabilities. The maximum group size is ten.

To register, write to neurodiversity@garagemca.org at least a week before your planned visit.

Please note that the Narkomfin Building is not accessible for visitors in wheelchairs.
