Garage Director Anton Belov and Senior Curator Ekaterina Inozemtseva will discuss the program of long-term partnership between Garage Museum of Contemporary Art and Russia’s leading university institution, Higher School of Economics (HSE).
The partnership between two major institutions—a museum and an educational one—launched in spring 2018 and aimed at the preparation of qualified professionals for art institutions, is currently undergoing its most exciting phase. It is the coming into being stage characterized by huge critical attention being paid to the program by experts representing diverse fields of knowledge, from art historians to marketing consultants.
The authors of the master’s program Practices of Contemporary Art and Curatorship, scheduled to open at HSE in Autumn 2019, will share their opinions about why this type of education is needed and by whom. They will explain why, rather than boasting statistics, it is important to promote the program and explain its current or possible complications from the very beginning, while also clarifying what kind of specialists in the fields of contemporary art, museum studies, and gallery business are likely to remain in great demand from a long-term perspective.
