For the concluding act of her residency at Garage Studios, Anya Kravchenko will invite dance artists she collaborated with during last season’s SDVIG LAB series at St. Petersburg’s SDVIG Studio of Performance Arts.
The main goal of the original series was to create conditions to address collectively the issues and methods discovered intuitively by dance performers to that have yet to be described, defined, and named (Sasha Portyannikova’s Fractals of Collective Memory; Anya Kravchenko and Nastya Tolmacheva’s Elementary Mutations; Dasha Plokhova’s Sticky Space; Yulya Dolgova and Denis Medvedev’s Meanings of Gravity; Dasha Sedova’s The Dance of My Everyday; Anton Vdovichenko’s Empty Space).
Whereas some of these processes instigated the birth of new works, others remained in the form of questions for further practice. All of them will be enacted in various formats at Garage Studios over the two days of the event, setting up a situation for the mutual consideration of dance using a language coherent to it.
The event will be accompanied by the publication of interviews with the artists.
