This course is a creative lab unveiling the history of contemporary art for children aged 10 to 13 years.

While the theoretical seminars will acquaint the audience with the most notable art movements of the twentieth century, including pop and land art, street and participatory art, the practical sessions are devoted to the production of original cartoons inspired by the practice of famous artists.

Pop art. Roy Lichtenstein. Theoretical seminar

The opening session of the course is devoted to one of the most famous twentieth-century art movements, pop art. The tutors will trace the history of its birth and introduce the young audience to the practice of American artist Roy Lichtenstein. The participants will then be asked to develop their first script.

The group will begin work on their first animated film. Tatyana Bortnik and Irina Svetlichnaya will explain how to use the technique of cutout animation and will help the students to understand the technical aspects of filming, editing and dubbing.

The tutors will talk about the Japanese art group Gutai, as well as how art gradually moved away from traditional mediums to performative practices.
