Art: Step by Step. Second Block

Developed for children aged eight and older and their parents, the course reviews the history of modern and contemporary art through the works of twenty influential artists of the nineteenth, twentieth, and twenty-first centuries, including Claude Monet, Vincent van Gogh, Natalia Goncharova, Andy Warhol, Jeff Koons, and Ilya Kabakov among others.

Each lecture acquaints the audience with interesting facts and key episodes from the life and practice of a particular artist, while also revealing the meanings behind the diverse “isms”, explains how different art movements were invented, and teaches participants how to distinguish their most recognizable features in the works of the given artist and her or his successors. The variety of materials and techniques used during the practical part of the session will help the participants to better understand the artist’s methods and develop their own creative thinking.
