Consisting of seminars, individual practice, and art historian-led group visits to contemporary art exhibitions, this course offers an introduction to the basic vocabulary of art analysis and helps develop the skills necessary to understand art.

Learning about the patterns in art history from the classical age to the contemporary era will allow listeners to feel confident when discussing art.

Sacred Sculpture: From Michelangelo to the Chapman Brothers

This lecture explores the key principles of sacred sculpture and its legacy in contemporary art, and includes a discussion of sculpting materials (marble, basalt, diorite, bronze, and wood), as well as of tectonics, static and dynamic compositions.
