Of the many myths abound in contemporary society the female breast has been one of those most open to discussion. An object of femininity, the breast is a topical subject that oversteps the borders of its original function — to nurture — into the purely aesthetic; and the latter continues to dominate. The photographs in this book are insightful and provocative; past photographs of the breast have tended to linger on the aesthetic nude, this book instead focuses on the veiled breast — so much more stimulating to the imagination.
