Being Watched: Yvonne Rainer and the 1960s
In Being Watched, art historian Carrie Lambert-Beatty redevelops Yvonne Rainer’s select films and dances from the 1960s to 1970s as they address the body as offered to the eye of the audience. Her primary explanation in how the body as offered to the eye is changed is Rainer’s treatment of the body as an object (and ultimately as a gendered subject).
