The catalogue accompanied a touring exhibition “A Cabinet of Signs: Contemporary Art From Post Modern Japan” held at Tate Gallery Liverpool from October to December 1991, Whitechapel Art Gallery from December 1991 to February 1992 and Malmö Konsthall, Sweden from March to May 1992. The exhibition aimed to offer the public in Britain and Sweden a representative sample of the innovative art scene of Japan at that time.
