Pearls

This book has been published to coincided with the exhibition “Pearls”, staged at the Museum of Islamic Art in Doha, Qatar, from January to June 2010. The pearl, which looks so simple in form and which seems so easy to explain, was removed from the drawer of unsolved mysteries long ago. The truth is that we still know little about pearls. The history of the pearl is filled with mysteries, some of which are only now being illuminated by archaeology. This book sets out to fill in the gaps and enrich our knowledge of the pearl, we see its nature, culture and its place in history and fashion.
