In February 2022, Garage launches a training course for guides with migration experience aimed at the preparation of professionals trained to conduct tours in their native language. The Museum invites people with migration experience who speak languages underrepresented in the Russian cultural environment to participate in the program.

Since April 2021, Garage has been running guided tours with translation into Uzbek, Kyrgyz and Tajik, delivered by the Museum's guides, with simultaneous interpretation into these languages. The new training course is an opportunity for people with migration experience to have the floor in the Museum and combine the role of a guide with that of an interpreter.

Beginning February 6, 2022, every Sunday from February to July, the course participants will attend art history and museum studies lectures and engage in information processing, self-education, and public speaking workshops. Classes will be held in various Moscow museums, including Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts, State Tretyakov Gallery, The State Museum of Oriental Art, and Garage Museum of Contemporary Art.

The main criteria to take part in the course include an interest in art and the desire to speak about it in one’s native language, openness to new knowledge, and willingness to learn the skills of interacting with the audience and conducting tours.

Art industry-specific education is optional. Basic knowledge of Russian is required since it is the working language of the course. The course materials will be adapted, the assistance of tutors will be offered throughout the education process.

Please note that participation in the course requires independent work with texts and video materials, active participation in masterclasses and practical sessions. The main goal of this course is to teach the skills of learning, communication, and critical thinking.

The course is designed for ten participants who will be selected through a competition. All participants will receive a monthly stipend of 10,000 rubles.
