This program of four meetings for teens aged 12–14 will provide information about the most successful contemporary art museums in the world and encourage participants to develop their own design for the ideal museum.
Is it worth going to a museum in an age when most cultural objects can be found on the internet? What is there for a teen to do in a museum? Are museums even necessary today? Through dialogue and practical sessions, the teens and Garage mediator Anastasia Tikhonova will try to find answers to these and other questions.
Over four meetings, participant will explore what makes a contemporary art museum by using current Garage projects. They will visit the library, get involved in the World Gone By computer class, visit artists at Garage Studios at VDNKh, and learn about the concept of the «artist’s book.» Participants will also interview visitors, learn to work with their own body, and organize debates. As a means of reflecting on earlier meetings, during the final session the teens will work in groups to develop and present a design for their own ideal museum.
These meetings are part of the mediation program Around the Garages.
