DESCRIPTION

Global trends in the architecture of learning spaces, such as openness, community-oriented and interdisciplinary design, multi-functionality and subjectivity, are coming to Russia. Russian architects are coming up with bold projects, creating spaces senior students, and accumulating knowledge based on local practice. Architects, researchers and teachers are joining forces to create a contemporary learning space.

The idea of crime prevention through environmental design (CPTED) dates back to the 1960s but is still little known and insufficiently popular in our country. The original idea has evolved over time, moving away from the straightforward re-planning of spaces to community-oriented and participatory design. Many CPTED strategies are low-cost and can be easily introduced into everyday life. These strategies could be especially useful in the design of learning spaces, which is currently in the public spotlight due to the introduction of new standards on a national level on the one hand and the urgent need to envision the school of the future on the other.
