Teens Day

Date

Schedule

14:00–17:00

Place

Garage Museum of Contemporary Art

DESCRIPTION

On the month’s first Sunday, Garage encourages young visitors aged 12+ to get acquainted with its new exhibition, engage in a special excursion program and participate in a workshop.

The fall season’s opening meeting is devoted to the new show on display, The Fabric of Felicity, which brings together works created by artists from different continents who use textile and clothes as their mediums. The participants will be offered to engage in a conversation about the role of clothing in society and one’s everyday life—when garments help to develop a unique style, or become part of a particular social community, to express one’s stunning individuality, or, alternatively, remain unnoticed in the crowd.

Workshop: The second life of fabric

What can be made using pieces of fabric? Participants and educators will discuss how and why stories behind old things from one’s wardrobe can be interwoven into a new object, be it a designer’s clothing or interior accessory, a toy, or a painting, and will try to implement various techniques—such as sewing, weaving and kitting—for creating new things using cloths.
