shnit Worldwide Shortfilmfestival 2021’s international competition features four blocks comprising 21 short films from across the globe. The themes raised in the pictures include various models of masculinity (Titan, Midwife Man, Strike, Along Came a Prince) women’s oppression (Nina, Anja), and family crises (Sinking Ships, Blue Monday), with their genres varying from science and speculative fiction (Moment, Un monde sans crise, Hand in Hand) to comedic sketches (When I Explode, El Libre, Snorrie).
The program also features a number of animated films (The Last Matador, Benztown, A Stone in the Show, Postpartum). Some of the films were screened at iconic international festivals, including Toronto Film Festival (Strong Son), and nominated for Academy Awards (The Letter Room) and a César Award (The Atomic Adventure).
