A seminar focused on the book Art Since 1990: Modernism, Antimodernism, Postmodernism will resume in 2018 at Garage Library. The new season will be devoted to studying artistic practices of the 1950s–2000s.
Art Since 1990: Modernism, Antimodernism and Postmodernism, written collectively by Hal Foster, Rosalind Krauss, Yve-Alain Bois, Benjamin H.D. Buchloh, and David Joselit, is one of the key publications on the theory and history of art in the twentieth century. The book traces the paths of artistic practices in accordance with key historical periods and through a prism of various theoretical approaches and concepts.
Seminar sessions will go through a section of the book that covers the historical and cultural context. Seminar participants, consequentially going through chapters of Art Since 1900, will follow step by step the evolution of art between 1950 and 2010.
Everyone interested in the history and theory of contemporary art is invited to the seminar. The most active participants will receive one of the books published in between 2012 and 2014 as a part of Garage’s publishing program in collaboration with Ad Marginem Press.
