Artists and founders of the art calendar Chislennichek Ivetta Vladimirova and Masha Kolokolova will discuss working on it and share their latest personal and artistic interests and possible strategies for further work.
For the past five years the artists have worked on the tear-off calendar Chislennichek, which brings together 365 expressions from artists and cultural figures about a given theme. Each page of the calendar is designed by an individual artist, which forms a kind of exhibition made up of contrasting and complementary works by artists from Russia and other countries. In 2022, researcher Sasha Shapiro was involved in the development of the fifth edition of the calendar. Chislennichek 2023 explores ciphers and the phenomena of silence, allegory, and concealment.
Ivetta and Masha have been working on art projects since 2019, creating numerous performances and a series of installations. They consider one of their most important joint projects to be The Encyclopedia of Safe Urban Interventions, a study of the possibilities of artistic expression in a situation of censorship and propaganda. Various practices from the Encyclopedia were performed on the streets of Moscow, and now the project exists as a site. The artists are also working on their Telegram channel, Collective(ism), which reflects their artistic practice and ideas.
