Garage Museum of Contemporary Art and Beat Film International Documentary Film Festival on Music and New Culture present a public talk on documentary film production to mark the start of the application process for the festival’s national competition.
Aimed primarily at filmmakers, producers, and other film industry professionals, the public talk will be in two parts. Beat Film Festival co-founders Kirill Sorokin (Program Director) and Alena Bocharova (Managing Director)—will open the event in conversation with Garage Screen curator and Rotterdam International Film Festival selector Evgeny Gusyatinsky. They will discuss the documentary film in the field of contemporary culture in terms of subjects, formats, and genres. The second part of the talk features representatives of selected Moscow production companies and studios, including Stereotactic, Kosmosfilm, and Amur Waves (Amurskie volny), who will discuss their work with directors and explain how Russian documentary and experimental pictures are financed, where they are shot and screened, and who watches them.
