The film by young Argentinian director Alejandro Fadel premiered in the Un Certain Regard section at the 71st Cannes Film Festival in 2018. Far from a conventional horror film, Murder Me, Monster is a surrealist crime story almost Lynchean in its atmosphere.
In a remote area in the Andes, a decapitated body of a woman is found. Local policeman Cruz starts the investigation. The main suspect is one of his neighbours, who admits to hearing voices. But with new murder cases being reported, the investigation stalls and soon Cruz starts believing that he is hearing voices himself.
