Lecture The Mass of Sound by Dmitri Kourliandski

DISCRIPTION

This lecture explores the phenomenon of mass musical performances.

Drawing on the example of his own project The Riot of Spring, presented at the Ruhrtriennale festival in October 2013, Dmitri Kourliandski will discuss the phenomenon of mass musical performance. What is folklore today? How does the energy of the collective unconscious manifest itself in contemporary society? Is it destructive or neutral for a postmodernist mind? Is this energy compatible with an academic concert hall? These are the questions that inspired Kourliandski’s experiment.
