It’s good it didn’t work out the way we wanted!: A Discussion on the Representation of HIV in Culture

Date

Schedule

14:00–16:00

Place

Garage Auditorium

DESCRIPTION

On World AIDS Day, Garage will organize a discussion with screenwriters, a choreographer, and a playwright who will talk about the coverage of HIV in contemporary culture.

The quote in the title of the discussion is from one of its participants, Galya Mosalova, commenting on her work on the TV series It’s Complicated, which is about a girl living with HIV. Things were complicated not only in the series itself but also at the production stage. What kind of person should the protagonist be? What is the main message the viewer will get? What emotions and feelings should the series evoke?

Other creators addressing HIV in their work also face these questions.
