DESCRIPTION

Garage Museum of Contemporary Art will hold public discussion "A right to love – Sex and Disability" that will begin with the screening of the short film Les petits mots doux.

Opening the discussion, Garage will screen Les petits mots doux —a short film directed by Bernard Bourdeau and Antoine Bonnet. The main characters of the picture are people with intellectual disabilities who reflect on love, relationships, and their possibilities to be happy.

After the screening, the speakers will discuss how disabled people’s right to engage in personal and sex relationships is realized in the EU and in Russia; whether the political and social environment in the EU and Russia allow people with disabilities to have intimate life; how gender relations influence disabled people’s opportunity to have romantic relationships and experience their sexuality.

The event is part of Public Diplomacy. EU and Russia—a project run by the Delegation of the European Union to Russia and aimed at a better understanding between Russian and European societies on a number of bilateral and global issues, as well as at improving the relations between the EU and Russia. Launched in 2017, the project provides diverse platforms for public dialogue between Russia and the European Union.
