In May 2015 Garage Museum of Contemporary Art continues its work aimed at introducing children to contemporary art, now joining forces with Masterslavl educational project.
At Masterslavl, Garage will run two creative workshops: Garage Museum and The Academy of Arts. The Garage Museum workshop will introduce its young participants to the two key museum jobs – those of curator and registrar. The kids will learn about a curator’s work and trade secrets to come up with their own exhibition project. They will also look into what a registrar does and learn about the importance of being attentive and careful with their possessions.
These newly acquired skills will come in handy at The Academy of Arts workshop, where Garage will invite participants to play the creative game of kARTy. Participants will make sculptures out of soap, portraits from modeling clay and other unusual materials, inspired by the works of Russian contemporary artists Vitaliy Pushnitskiy, Natalia Turnova, and Valery Koshlyakov.
Masterslavl is an interactive project for kids aged 5 to 15, which aims at teaching various practical skills and developing creativity.
