The Perm artist, who is known for his ability to involve both colleagues and viewers in a joint creative or contemplative process, will show the 24th episode of his soap opera / cinema series Chasklip, «a melancholy and sharp fragment of the main subject line of a video experiment that began in 2017.»
Chasklip is the result of a poetic consideration of reality through work with found footage and the following instruments as defined by the artist: choice, order, occurrence. Revealed by Grishaev through various methods of montage, they form «the logic of an inhuman view, ” balancing at the edge of audio and visual elements. Each series includes prompts, groups of keys with which the viewer can solve the «chasklip» as a rebus-archive. The collective viewing of each episode is an integral element of Grishaev’s artistic practice. For him it is important to consistently research and experience lack of understanding as a starting point for art. For this reason, the artist arranges the discussion, something that seems to involve explanation, as a processual action unfolding in various environments and geographical locations.
