Workshop participants will make paper models of buildings that they consider important for their personal history and will subsequently destroy them using Thomas Demand’s creative method.
Borrowing images of public history events from the press, German artist Thomas Demand reproduces these scenes in life scale from cardboard and paper. Afterwards, he photographs and destroys them. Workshop participants will be invited to create paper models in the manner of Demand, although it is episodes of their personal biographies rather than public memory events that are to be documented. Through interaction with materials, participants will learn the principles of architectural model-making and explore what emotions different buildings can invoke.
