Description

“Chicken Kiev” is a walk across chronology, a surprising recipe of architectural and historic ingredients. Served up in our architectural dish is a juicy stuffing of avant-gardist architecture (The Kauchuk Factory Club by Konstantin Melnikov), wrapped in a nutritious layer of the era’s no less significant structures (Alexander Vlasov’s Crimea Bridge), and topped with a crusty coating of traditional and temporary park architecture (The All-Russian Exhibition Centre’s old “Car Manufacturing” pavilion by Ivan Zholtovsky), all seasoned with the piquant spices of the various buildings and views accompanying our route. And where would all this be without the indispensible bone – the metal structures of engineering genius Vladimir Shukhov?
