This course reviews the history of contemporary art through the work of the key artists of the time, their influences and followers.

The twentieth and twenty-first century artists studied in the course include Paul Cezanne, Vincent van Gogh, Marcel Duchamp, Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol, Joseph Beuys and Ilya Kabakov. To familiarize themselves with the styles and movements studied in the course, participants will work on their own performances, ready-mades, installations, and pop-art objects.

Course Format: 20 classes in two blocks: 10 classes from September to December; and 10 classes from February to May.
