Architecture: The Art of Seeing. First Block (18+)

Date

Hours

Tuesdays

Place

Kids’ Studio

10 sessions

90 min

Each of the classes is dedicated to an important phenomenon in the history or theory of architecture, and reveals how the implementation of various materials and technologies helped architects of different epochs to solve similar requests from society.

The course participants will learn to “deconstruct architecture brick by brick”: what motivates architects to make some crucial decisions, and how entire cities are being developed; when and how the first skyscrapers and high-rise constructions were created; what kind of homes architects design for themselves; and what kind of public housing projects were introduced in the twentieth century.

The practical block will allow participants to try engineering and design. Members of the course will create a model of a building of the future, reconstruct the Shukhov tower, and put down their own architectural manifesto, among many other things.
