Notre-Dame de Paris: Bilder Einer Kathedrale
This book is the result of our shock at the images of the fire at the Notre‑Dame Cathedral in Paris that went around the world on the evening of April 15, 2019.
The essay by American art historian Danny Smith is a preliminary contribution to the discussion on the reconstruction. Using Viollet‑le‑Ducs nineteenth‑century restoration of Notre‑Dame as an example, he discusses the issues involved in contemporary interventions in historical buildings.
