Ruhlmann: Un génie de l'art déco

Creator of genius, Jacques-Emile Ruhlmann (1879–1933) is one of the greatest masters of the decorative arts of the twentieth century. Introducing “classical modernity” in furniture, his talent is revealed at the International Exhibition of Decorative Arts in 1925 where a true “style Ruhlmann”, both sumptuous and measured. This book presents a unique set of Ruhlmann furniture. The many archival sketches, compared to the finished works, show how each piece is the fruit of a meticulous balance between geometry and elegance, and highlight the way in which the artist succeeds in channeling the energy of matter to make a perfect harmony.
