Gutai: Two And A Half Drops Of Bitter Extraordinary Tales Of Murakami Saburo

Japanese artist Saburo Murakami was a founding member of the avant-garde movement Gutai, active in the 1950s-60s. Gutai artists created works which anticipated later Happenings and performance and conceptual art, as well as installations, and inspired many non-Japanese artists. The group was, for instance, a formative influence on the Fluxus movement. Written in the first-person by Sakaide Tatsunori, Two and a half Drops of Bitters recounts numerous stories, impressions and interactions involving Murakami, from casual bar conversations to more formal interviews, plus transcriptions from the Memorial Exhibition held at Bar Metamorphose in January 2006.
