Working in a rural context is a challenge to all, not least artists. A Russian artist, working in an Irish rural context, not only faces new challenges but creates new challenges for those he is working with, commissioners and audiences alike. This project has transcended language, cultural and aesthetic barriers, it is grounded in the ordinary-ordinary people, ordinary places, ordinary things-and it is this celebration of ordinary that makes it extraordinary.
