Nicholas Mirzoeff (b. 1962) is professor in the Department of Media, Culture and Communication at New York University, one of the founders of visual culture as an academic discipline. He is the author of An Introduction to Visual Culture (1999) and The Right to Look: A Counterhistory of Visuality (2011).
