Grant program in support of young Russian artists 2015/2016

DESCRIPTION

Garage announces 2013/14 program in support of young Russian artists.

The program aims to support artists early in their career - ages 18 to 35 - to allow them to carry out work and assist in their development. Over 400 artists submitted applications for individual grants of 20,000 rubles per month. Successful applicants were selected by a specialist committee on the basis that they created interesting and unusual contemporary work, utilizing original materials and forms.

Grant award amount: 30,000 rubles

Alisa Prudnikova, Head of the Ekaterinburg branch of the National Centre for Contemporary Art;

Mikhail Ovcharenko, Director, Regina Gallery;

Snejana Krasteva, Garage Curator;

Alexei Novoselov, Head of the Exposition and Exhibition Department , Moscow Museum of Modern Art;

Alice Bagdonayte, Curator at the Contemporary Art Center Zarya.

AWARDED GARAGE GRANTS

From 435 applications received in summer 2015, five new winners have been selected to receive this year's scholarship: 

Anastasia Marakulina (St. Petersburg)

Julia Zastava (Moscow)

Nikolai Saprykin (Moscow)

Anna Titova (Moscow)

Ivan Novikov (Moscow)

Nikolai Alekseev and Evgeny Granilshchikov have been awarded the grant for the second year in a row.

REQUIREMENTS

Age of the artists: 18 to 35

Priority qualities: Award decisions will be based on the applicants’ uniqueness of vision, employment of new materials and forms, and cogency of artistic approach.
