Schedule

Place

Garage Lounge Zone at UNIQLO Atrium

DESCRIPTION

Garage Museum of Contemporary Art's program in partnership with the UNIQLO brand resumes with a lecture by Tatyana Bortnik who will acquaint the audience with the medium of public art by demonstrating the most noticeable public art projects realized in Russia and globally.

One of the most democratic contemporary art mediums conceived for public spaces within an urban habitat, public art is often addressed to the widest audience without any special training, with its key aim being the setting up of a flowing interaction between the viewer and the environment. Public art may take a plethora of forms, from sculpture and media installation to performance, photography and even dance. Art historian Tatyana Bortnik will help to get a better idea of this movement and outline some current issues for which public art operates as an open discussion platform.
