At the second Garage Art Book Fair and in collaboration with Garage Museum of Contemporary Art, FotoDepartament will present its first publication. Amplitude is a collection of 10 books by 10 Russian authors working with photography: a periodical that will introduce readers to contemporary photographers and the state of photography in Russia.
The publication will act as a starting point for a discussion on contemporary photography and its place in contemporary art. We Are Dealing with an Image is a meeting where artists and curators will exchange their ideas on the state of photography and the current status of image in general, and discuss its potential.
We are going to look at the role of the image in contemporary culture and discuss its importance not in terms of its ubiquity, but in relation to the complications and limitations that artists, curators and viewers are facing due to new opportunities, which push us to change our routines, rethink our expectations and our idea of visual art.
