DESCRIPTION

A modern-day playground is a unique and often innovative space of challenge, adventure and even managed risk taking that makes an integral part of games that encourage children’s development.

Playgrounds exist at the intersection of childhood, learning, urban planning, public spaces design, architecture and art. On August 25, Gorky Park will launch the Salut Playground—the largest public open air playground in Russia created for Gorky Park by Garage Museum of Contemporary Art. On the day of its opening, Julian Richter—the founder of Richter Spielgeräte GmbH who have designed the playground’s unique equipment—will give a talk on contemporary playground design and using various structures and textures to engage all sensory organs for a greater learning experience.
