An interactive lecture delivered by teacher and science communicator Ilya Kolmanovsky based on his book How a Pear Gets into the Brain.

Why do children love candies? What’s the function of saliva? How does digestion work? And finally, when does a pear get into the brain? Head of the Biology Lab at the Polytechnic Museum and author of the book How a Pear Gets into the Brain Ilya Kolmanovsky will answer these and other questions, while explaining the human digestive system and showing exciting experiments providing a better understanding of digestive mechanisms.

The book How a Pear Gets into the Brain was released in 2017 within Polytech’s joint program with the Pink Giraffe publishing house.

The lecture has been prepared together with the Pryamaya Rech (Direct Speech) lecture platform and will be delivered within Polytech’s science program for children as part of Garage Art Book Fair.

ABOUT THE LECTURER

Ilya Kolmanovsky is an academic and popularizer of science, head of the Biology Lab at Polytech. Doctor of Biology. In 2008–2014, he ran the Pocket Scientist a podcast for children on the website of the Pink Giraffe publishing house. Author of popular-science books for children How a Pear Gets into the Brain and Why Don’t Birds Fall?
