A portrait of Anton Yelchin who could have become a major actor of his generation had he not died tragically at the of 27.
Anton Yelchin’s last films were released in 2017—after the actor had died in a freak accident. Pictures featuring Yelchin include Hearts in Atlantis, Only Lovers Left Alive, Alpha Dog, and Star Trek among many others, while his on-screen partners included Willem Dafoe, Anthony Hopkins, and Glenn Close. Loved by audiences and praised by critics, who predicted for him a triumphant career, Yelchin’s life however was not limited to a sequence or lead or minor film roles. He was also passionate about blues and played in a punk band, took photographs, was a loving partner and son.
Documentary filmmaker Garret Price thoroughly reconstructs the actor’s world by interviewing his friends and relatives, collecting diaries, letters, photographs, and videos from the family archive, and using amateur footage dating back to Anton’s teenage years, including the first auditions of the soon-to-be star. These extremely intimate nuances combine for a dynamic and charismatic portrait of a talented boy who will stay forever young.
